Group To Tourism Cabal: Don’t Derail Buhari Tourism Plan

Abuja Independent Tourism Entreprenuers (AITE) has warned those it called tourism cabal against derailing the efforts of the Buhari administration to revive the tourism sector through the tourism development corporation.

In a statement signed by its President Prince Adesegun ,the group affirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a tested professional as the head of the NTDC and warned that “any attempt to thwart the reform efforts will be resisted by stakehokders.

“The NTDC had for long been dominated by non-professionals who understand near to nothing about hospitality management and promotions. But President Buhari has selected a trusted professional to drive the tourism reform agenda. All stakeholders must rally round her in our collective interest”,the group said.

While recalling the dark days of the corporation, the association said “only enemies of progress will support a return to the old order when meritocracy was sacrificed “,urging the Presidency to urgently confirm the new leadership of the corporation.

“For us as a critical stakeholder,we support the effort of the new leadership to enthrone meritocracy and we call on Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to shut the door against agents of the old order.

“They are seeking to reinstate the debilitating practices of the past. Their records stink. Today, they masquerade as revivalist when in reality that are responsible for the woes of the sector”,the group stated.

“We call on the Presidency not to listen to agents of the old order. If they come to lobby, please call for their records when they held away at the corporation”,the statement concluded.
