Group Expresses Sadness Over Spark Of Resumes Killings In Plateau

Yakubu Busari

The Chairman, Plateau Our Heritage, POH,Hon. Alex Kwapnoe has expressed the association  sadness over the new wave of terror that has enveloped parts of the northern part of Plateau state.

Hon. Alex Kwapnoe  made this disclosure in a press statement issued by Raymond Gukas in Jos says , that this is happening shortly after the Nigerian police force has alerted that Nigerians; especially from Plateau and neighbouring states to be on alert as the dreaded Boko Haram is regrouping is most unfortunate.

Where will the common man run to?; considering the anxiety associated with the late arrival of rain which has provoked the need for the rural farming populace to mobilise to farm?

As unfortunate as it is, the POH is further disturbed by the  inaction of the state government since the police alert sounded.

The POH wants to categorically state that the issue has gone beyond a part of the state, but the entire state which must be protected going by the recent happenings.

While the body appreciates the state government’s efforts to tackle security issues in the past, the efforts are not enough to make the people sleep with both eyes closed.

The POH is throwing a challenge to the Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong’s administration to change its approaches to these mundane issues or the state will stand to be restricted to the powers of these elements that are bent on sabotaging Plateau and her people and gain more territory for their nefarious actions.

We read the executive governor’s concerns over the killings in Jos and Riyom in particular, but we are asking that the governor’s words must be beyond frowning but must be matched with action if truly our rural inhabitants would have a stake in this year’s farming.

Please, our people must be protected; the stakes of insecurity are high.
