A pro-democracy group known as Progressive Network For Democracy ( PND) has commended the peaceful conduct of the All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary election in Jigawa state.
The group stated this in a press statement signed by the PND national secretary comrade Sale Birniwa and made available to newsmen in Dutse.
The statement described the successful conduct of the primary election as a sign of Democratic development in the state and also how people of the state and political actors respect the tenets of democracy.
The group also commended Governor Muhammad Badaru for being neutral during the primary which provided enabling environment for all the aspirants to participate freely without fear of political intimidation, and equally got a chance to test their popularity.
They also described Governor Badaru as a champion of democracy, peace, and good governance.
However, the statement described the primary election which produced Alhaji Umar Namadi as the APC gubernatorial flag bearer as one of the most credible in the history of Jigawa state politics.
” As an independent group, we have assessed the track record of the Deputy Governor, Malam Umar Namadi (APC gubernatorial candidate) and found he is a man of integrity, peace-loving, democrat and progressive “
The group then called on the people of the state to ensure in the forthcoming 2023 general election they voted only for people of integrity, tested, and trusted for peace and progress of the state.
