A group known as the  Amalgamation for Greater Nigeria asked the Court which gave Al-Mustapha freedom to also arrest ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo for what it termed contempt following Obasanjo’s claim in a letter to President Jonathan that the verdict that aquited Al- Mustapha was influenced.
According to the group in its release said; “We also urge the court to arrest and charge Obasanjo for contempt in describing its judgment as being influenced. Government should also open investigations into the deadly massacres of hundreds of innocent civilians in Odi and Zaki Biam on Obasanjo’s directives.”

According to the statement signed by Abdul-Azeez Suleiman the group National Director of Media, and Public relations stated further urging President Goodluck Jonathan not to dismiss Chief Olusegun Obasanjo allegations in his December 2 letter but set up a high-powered investigation panel and invite the international community to investigate the former president whom they believe is up to some grievous mischief.
“Instead of dismissing the contents of the letter, the Presidency should investigate the allegations raised therein. In particular, the allegation that the Federal Government is training a Presidential Strike Force to carry out terrorist attacks on political opponents,” the group said.
According to the group, Obasanjo  was the mastermind and initiator of atrocities he accused Jonathan of, including condoning corruption, ethnic politics, insincerity and disrespect for gentleman agreements in all dealings, while it also advised Major Hamza Al-Mustapha to drag Obasanjo to court and ask him to provide proof of his claims that President Jonathan influenced the final of his fourteen-year-long trial as well as proof that that he is being used to run an assassination squad to target Jonathan’s political opponents ahead 2015 elections.
Speaking further it added that Obasanjo as an Army General and one who ruled Nigeria for about 10 years on two separate occasions to deliberately create the impression that the respected Court of Appeal that gave the Al-Mustapha verdict was unduly influenced by President Jonathan, is disturbing, worrisome and outright contemptuous.
“It is unfortunate for Obasanjo whose only qualification as member of the National Council of State is the expectation for him to uphold and safeguard the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at all times to now deliberately insult the nation’s judiciary which is a major constitutional institution,” the group said.
It also said that since Obasanjo has failed to eschew the deep-seated animosity he harbours against the late General Sani Abacha which he is translating unto Al-Mustapha, they will sponsor a public debate for the Major and Obasanjo on the unresolved issues of the unexplained deaths of General Abacha and Chief M.K.O. Abiola and of course the assassination of General Murtala Mohammed.
It is just an expression of Obasanjo’s warped idea of executive power as demonstrated by the yet unsolved cases of the assassinations of Bola Ige, Harry Marshal, Chuba Okadigbo under his administration.
