An International construction firm known as CCAI Construction Limited, has accused the Kano State Governor, Engr. Rabiu Kwankwaso of illegal encroachment on the plot of land belonging to the firm in Maitama District of Abuja.
Chairman of CCAI Construction, Hon. Peter Enyigwe, who disclosed this at the weekend while addressing journalists at the purported trespassed land, said the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) gave allocation of 10 hectares of land to his company in 2007.
According to Enyigwe, who gave journalists copies of the land allocation documents said, the action of Governor Kwanwaso is an act of intimidation, on a land that was not allocated to him.
“This plot of land was granted to our company by the federal government through the office of the Minister of FCT, for the purpose of constructing a World class Liaison and Recreational Centre, that would employ at least 1, 000 Nigerian youth, but Kwankwaso has hindered this enormous and good project.
“He has taken the law into his hands by entering our plot of land, Park number 2401, A06. Today, half of it has being taken over, which is a green area that you are not supposed to put a permanent structure, but, Kwankwaso has gone to build a mansion. He started the encroachment in 2013, and has claimed five hectares of our land.

“Our firm is Diaspora firm from the United States of America and the project is to gulp $500 million. All the required input for the project has been submitted to FCDA, but cannot carry out development due to these encroachments.”

Enyigwe said that on October 14, 2013, the FCDA revoked the land and ordered Kwankwaso to vacate the land, which three national dailies published as news, that after three months of his vacation from the land, he came back to erect a sprawling mansion on the land which was designed for a green area and having no approval from FCDA.
“The approval he claimed to have from Parks and Recreation Department was an improvement in his compound to build a Boys quarter, to add to his existing residential building and not outside his compound. His property is far away from our land, but he has taken the law into his hand to encroach into our land,” Enyigwe stated.

Meanwhile, Enyigwe added that it was ready to exhaust all available means constitutionally to address the issue, calling on President Goodluck Jonathan, the FCT Minister, Sen. Bala Mohammed, Senate Committee Chairman on FCT, Sen. Smart Adeyemi, the Inspector General of Police, and Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, to investigate the matter and for justice to prevail.

All effort to reach Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso proved abortive as he was said to be out of the country, however, the Director of Press and Public Relations to Governor Kwankwaso, Baba Halilu Dantiye, although aware of the land issue, refused to speak on the matter.
