Gombe state governor Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has been accused of anti- party activities by secretly aligning with the Presidential candidate of the major opposition party the All Progressives Congress (APC) General Muhammadu Buhari, even as rendering him financial support to carry out his campaign rally when he visited the state.
But the People’s Democratic Party PDP in the state has refuted the idea, saying the party is not aware of any member involved in anti party activities. Saying all its members are law abiding and focused on supporting President Goodluck Jonathan as its only presidential candidate.
Speaking to journalists in an interview yesterday in Gombe, the Party chairman of the PDP Mr Shuaibu Baba Sabulu condemned the rumour discrediting the party’ gubernatorial candidate as being anti-party, saying that the party is aware of the governor’ s full support towards the success of the party in the state and at the national level.
He alleged that such rumours were cooked by the enemies of the ruling party in the state to discredit its gubernatorial candidate and to tarnish his image.
He assured the public that the PDP lead government in the state will continue to support President Jonathan’s transformation agenda, and that those behind the allegation do not wish the government well.
According to him, the PDP  in Gombe is fully in support and working hard to ensure that President Jonathan is  re-elected into office  for second term.
While responding on the allegation that the president’s billboards and posters were not allowed in the state, Sabulu responded that it was untrue, saying that the state secretariat of the PDP did not received any poster or billboard from the national secretariat belonging to the Presidential candidate of the party he even denied that the state PDP secretariat had failed to placed banners, posters and billboards of President Jonathan across in the state.
Earlier, the vice- chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC in the state Mr. Ishaya Karu spoke on the matter, while accusing the  PDP supporters for destroying posters and billboards belonging to APC.
He said the APC presidential candidate is widely supported in the northern Nigeria and that the possibility of being supported by the PDP gubernatorial candidate is also possible.
