Nasarawa State governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has called on Christian faithful to inculcate the teachings of Jesus Christ during and after Christmas celebration.
The governor in a Christmas message said the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes humility; love and peace, urging Christians by0 follow the footpath of Jesus Christ in their daily endeavor.
Al-Makura joins millions of Christians all over the world to celebrate the feast of Christmas in commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ,
Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, on behalf of the Government and good people of the State, congratulate and felicitate with the clergy men and all Christian faithful.
Urging Christians to follow the footpath of Jesus Christ in their daily endeavor.
He says Christmas personifies selflessness, good neighborliness, charity and reconciliation among humanity.
Describing the yuletide as a period for sober reflection and reaffirmation of moral values as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
Governor Al-Makura accordingly, enjoined Christians in the State to imbibe the spirit and teachings of this festive period by showing love and affection, as well extend hand of fellowship and goodwill to all people at all times.
“Let me take liberty of this joyous moment to remind all Christians and, indeed, the good people of Nasarawa State of the significance of this sacred period, particularly at this challenging time in our history”.
He however said that the yuletide embodies immense blessings. Urging Christians to take advantage of the opportunity availed by this occasion to intensify prayers for the sustenance of peace, unity, harmonious co-existence, security and prosperity of our dear State and Nigeria at large.
“This is more so that significant improvement has been noticed in the state of the nation’s economy, assuring the people of better days ahead with the gradual recovery of the economy”.
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura averred that Nasarawa State Government is more determined to improve the living conditions of the people.
“It is for this reason that we christened the 2018 Appropriation Bill as Budget of Sustainable Development, aimed at reinvigorating all the sectors of the economy for the overall development of our dear State”.
“My dear Christian brethren, as you celebrate Christmas, I call on you to be steadfast with all sense of decorum and modesty by avoid extravagance and ostentation”.
“You should be guided by the fear of God in all your endeavours at all times”.
Calling on all road users to be cautious and considerate by obeying traffic rules and regulations so as to ensure safety on our roads during the festivities and beyond.
The governor also called on the officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission and other relevant agencies to step up operations and surveillance for an accident-free Christmas season.
Calling on all and sundry to continue to support the effort of this Administration to improve the living condition of our people, he says Government has taken adequate measures to ensure security of lives and property, not only during this festivity, but on a sustainable basis.
