Governor Umaru Tanko Al- Makura of Nasarawa State has tasked journalists in the state to use their reportage to foster unity among the diverse ethnic group in the state.
Al- Makura state this while presenting an 18 seater bus to the members of the correspondent chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalist at the Government House on Monday. The secretary to the state Government Hajiya Zainab Ahmed, who represented the State Governor stated.
The State Government described the press as the conveyor and convenor of information, calling on the fourth estate of the realm to abide by the ethics of the pen profession, that state government also cautioned the press to shun sensation and sentiments in their reports.
“On behalf of the state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura I handed over the key of this 18 seater bus, the bus will help the union in the discharge of their duty, saying the gesture is stem the tide of cordial relationship.”
The chairman of the correspondent chapel while receiving the key of the bus commended  the effort of the state government in supporting the press in carrying out their social responsibility.
