Governor Al-Makura Promotes Over 5000 Teachers In Nasarawa State, Engages 2,142 Teachers

Nasarawa State Commissioner of Education, Hon.Ahmed Tijjani Aliyu has said the outgoing administration under the able leadership of governor; Umaru Tanko Al-Makura had promoted over 5000 teachers in the last seven years.

 

He gave hint in an exclusive interview with selected Journalists at his abode at 500 Housing Units along Doma road, Lafia.

 

Tijjani disclosed that the 500 promoted teachers were promoted on notional promotion, meaning promotion without benefits.

 

“Our arrangement was that there will be promotion without immediate benefits now and it was agreed”.

 

Commenting on the issue of security in government schools, the Commissioner maintained that the outgoing administration has taken a holistic approach to curb the porosity of public schools by embarking on the construction of fences.

 

He attributed the fencing of schools especially Girls Colleges in the State to make it safe for students, adding that governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura would not relent in taking a bold steps to curtail porosity of public schools.

 

Speaking on the reason why the State government discarded the free NECO and WAEC registration, the Commissioner blamed principals over the stoppage.

 

He hinted that the nonchalant attitude of some principals registering outsiders even with mock examination used as a yardstick for the free registration still some gullible principals flouted government guideline, he said.

 

“Students from neighboring States takes advantage of the free NECO and WAEC to defraud the State government resource, this prompted the suspension.

 

He warned developers in the State to stay clear of trespassing into the plot of government school or face sanction.

 

“This a warning to all those trespassing plot of land in government schools, as I’m talking to you now, we have drag some of the culprits to court”.
