Gov Al-Makura/ALGON Chairman Begs Organized Labour To Call Off Strike

Nasarawa state Government has begged the organized Labour to call-Off the three weeks strike on the interest of the state,universalreporter247.com gathered that a high powered delegation from the Government side were at the labour house to plead with labour leaders.

Members of the delegation include the former minister of labour and productivity, Hussaini Zanwa Akwanga, The erstwhile Chief Judge of the state, Ahmed Ubangari and amongst other highly placed persons.

Though the ongoing negotiation between the two sides was jettisoned due to the ongoing protest alleged to have been organized by the chairman of Lafia Local Government, Hon.Suleiman Wambai, Who is also the Chairman of Association of Local Government of Nigeria, appealed to the organized labour to consider the state above any other interest.

He expressed concerned over the plight of parents and students, He also expressed  worry over the closure of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, General hospitals and Primary Health Care, The chairman stated this while addressing Concerned Teachers and Health workers whom described the unabated strike as illegal.

The chairman commended the concerned Head teachers of primary for their commitment and readiness to avert the protracted industrial action, Urging the protesters to embarked on peaceful demonstration.

The chairperson of concerned Head Teachers of primary schools in the state, Esther Etim averred that the group has resolved to call-off the strike due to the momentous achievement of Governor Al-Makura in the area of construction of TAAL model schools, libraries, prompt payment of workers’ salaries.

“It was based on these that we neglected the strike and resume work, A round table negotiation is better than this strike, Said Etim

Also speaking, The chairman of concerned primary school teachers, Abdul-Ganiyu Abdullahi described the ongoing strike as a so-call strike embarked by labour

He opined that the ongoing strike has a political undertone to undermine the APC led regime under Governor Al-Makura, He further said the string of success recorded under Al-Makura prompted the group to shower encomium on the Governor, Saying the organized labour is insensitive to the plight of the masses.

But the chairman of Nigeria Union of Teachers,Lafia wing, Comrade Muhammed Uthman attested that the protesting youth are bunches of miscreant but not teachers hired to disrupt the ongoing negotiation  between the state Government and the organized labour.

Uthman appealed to teachers in Lafia Local Education Authority to remain calm and stay at home until the ongoing negotiation yields fruitful result.

The state chairman of NLC confided that the two sides jettisoned the negotiation process due to the looming insecurity caused by thugs; He however maintained that the sky would be the starting point for workers in the state.
