Gombe Geographic Information Systems Seals Off UBA, First City Monument Bank, Union Bank, Others Over Failure To Pay Ground Rent( See Photos And Video Inside)

Requires stations to produce title documents

Determined to ensure proper documentation with the Agency is being done by the landed property owners, the agency saddled with the responsibility for administration and management of land matters in Gombe, Gombe Geographic Information Systems GOGIS has today sealed off the branches of some financial institutions over failure to remit the Agency the annual ground rent levies imposed on them.

The affected banks and fuel stations are; First City Monument Bank (FCMB), Union Bank, UBA, Bormi Resources, and Total Filling Stations. The facilities can have their branches reopen when they pay, including the fine of five hundred thousand (500,000) Naira only to the State’s Treasury single account.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the exercise, the Director-General of the Agency, Dr. Kabiru Usman Hassan said, “The payment of ground rent is a legal responsibility of any property owner as enshrined in the Land Use Act of 1978 and upon accepting the offer it becomes incumbent on the beneficiaries to abide by the law.”

He, therefore, added that “it was necessary for property owners to pay their annual ground rent to enable the Gombe State Government to carry out its developmental projects across the State”.

Dr. Kabiru called on all plot allottees to always settle up their ground rent at the Gombe Geographic Information Systems (GOGIS) to assist the Agency in affirming up necessary data on property owners.

The Agency, therefore, calls on other bank branches and fuel stations in the State to produce their land title documents to perfect their papers.
