Gombe APC Guber Candidate Challenge Election Result, Denies Conceding Defeat By Kalshingi H Jedidah

Barely two weeks after the pronouncement of Gombe state gubernatorial election result by the Independent National Electoral Commission that declared Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of the People’s Democratic Party as winner of the election, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Gombe, Alh Inuwa Yahaya has Yesterday submitted a petition before the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Gombe, challenging the outcome of the election. Even as he denied accepting defeat to the PDP candidate at the poll.
Speaking to journalists in Gombe shortly after submitting  petition, Yahaya said, immediately after pronouncement of the said result he spoke on the media about his intention to take the necessary action in a more peaceful and civilised manner.

According to him, the APC having reviewed the election results had found out that, the APC had won the election contrary to the result announced by the INEC.

” Having reviewed and scrutinised the 2015 gubernatorial election, we found out that the APC won the election but was denied because some elements within the Electoral Commission and the PDP connived and claimed that the APC did not win, so we brought the issue before the tribunal in other to prove and make claim of our mandate.” He said.

Also speaking to journalists at the Tribunal, Counsel to the petitioner Barr Niyi Idowu (Esq) called on politicians and all Nigerians alike to decist from taking laws into their hands. He however, commended his client for not taking actions into his hands. He said, it is high time Nigerians begin to always seek redress in the court of law when ever they have grievances rather than taking the laws into their hands.

He said the tribunal would inspect all governorship election materials, saying with optimism that the tribunal would ensure justice.
