The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has eulogized the Deputy President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, as he clocks 56 years on August 3, 2019.
Gbajabiamila, who described Omo-Agege as an icon of democracy, said the Deputy President of the Senate is a fine legislator whom he believes has a lot to offer to the Nigerian Parliament.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi, the Speaker said lawmakers like Omo-Agege would shape the 9th National Assembly positively in the next four years.
The Speaker said in life, additional age comes with additional responsibilities, expressing the hope that the Deputy President of the Senate would live up to the expectations of his new age of 56.
“I want to use this medium to specially congratulate the Deputy President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as he clocks 56.
“Indeed, at a time when the Nigerian Parliament, specifically the 9th National Assembly, plans to come up with legislation that would better the lives of the citizens, a gentleman and fine legislator like Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege will go a long way in contributing to such legislation with his new age, which comes with additional responsibilities.
“As an icon of democracy and a dogged fighter for Nigerian Parliament, I believe Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has all it takes to join hands with like-minds and make the 9th National Assembly worthwhile for Nigerians.
“I wish to specially say a big happy birthday to this legislator per excellence,” the Speaker said.
While wishing the Deputy President of the Senate good health and continuous protection from the Almighty, Speaker Gbajabiamila wishes Distinguished Senator Omo-Agege a successful tenure in the next four years.
