Gagdi Commends Peaceful Conduct Of Polls, Lauds Turnout In Kanam LGA

Despite the voter apathy that greeted turnout at the October 9 Local Government polls in some parts of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, the member representing Pankshi/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives was impressed by the peaceful conduct of the exercise in the entire state, and particularly the large turnout of voters in Kanam local government area.

 

The lawmaker who arrived in Dengi, the local government headquarter on Friday, had paid a condolence visit to the Emir of Kanam, HRH Alh Muhammadu Muazu Babangida in his Palance over the demise of the Gimbiyan Kanam, the wife of the late Emir and other families who lost their love ones.

 

Gagdi also held meetings with different groups and associations across the various strata of the party in the area, before proceeding to Gum/Gagdi where he voted at Takbin polling unit. His presence amongst his kith and kin to vote in the exercise was greeted with so much exhilaration by his people, who thronged in their numbers to welcome their worthy son. The people were visibly happy to have the federal lawmaker at home for the exercise, and the turnout was quite impressive, signaling the acceptability of the Dayyabu/Bala joint ticket to lead the local government for the next three years.

 

Rt Hon. Gagdi lauded the Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Rt Hon. Simon Lalong and the APC leadership in the state for making history by ensuring a smooth transition from one elected local government council to another in Plateau State.

 

According to him, the smooth and peaceful conduct of the exercise was a clear testimony of the peaceful disposition of the governor and enjoined the elected local government leaders to lead the people with the fear of God, even as he wished Dayyabu Garga a successful tenure at the helm of affairs in Kanam LGA.

 

Reacting to the exclusion of the PDP in the election, Gagdi said the main opposition party in the state have themselves to blame for their woes, noting that similar exclusion, due to intraparty wranglings in the APC had given PDP a field day in Rivers State in the 2019 general elections, as well as gifting PDP all electable positions in Zamfara State, which were hitherto cleared by the APC.

 

He said those fingering APC in the woes that befell PDP in Plateau State are either ignorant of the circumstances leading to their exclusion, or they are being irredeemably hypothetical because PDP was a beneficiary of similar scenarios in two states in the past.
