Fulani/Farmers Clash: Nasarawa Government Should Employ An Alternative For Farmers

The All Progressive Grand Alliance Nasarawa state chapter has called on Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to source for alternative ways to curb the lingering Fulani/farmers skirmishes that bedeviled the state.

The state chairman, Musa Saidu disclosed this when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists paid him a courtesy visit at the state Secretariat of the party along Jos road.

He averred that the mismanaged fulani/farmers clash resorted to the reasons farmers are running way from farming, describing farming as the predominant occupation of the people.

“Farmers are running away from farming because all the alternative chance are blocked due to the inability of government to restore permanent peace in the state”.

“The state government should create an enabling environment for peace to thrive”.

He called on the state government to encourage peace by doing the needful, saying government should give the citizenry what they want, attributing the plight of people of the state to percentage payment.

“From Fulani/farmers clash to problem of salary, this was extended to pensioners too, the problem of Nasarawa state is different been a civil servants state, if workers are not pay the state would have less money in circulation”.

“To be fair to the state even before we have little crisis between Fulani/Tiv in Awe,Igbira/Bassa in Toto but not experiencing conflict at its peak, government should swing into action by doing the needful”.

“There is campaign after election and for this reason I will advised the governor to carry everybody along including birds and other animals”.

Musa Saidu while fielding questions said APGA is not a sectional party as it was rightly portray by the opposition, he however said the party covers national interest.

“I from Awe I’m the state chairman of the party, my Organizing Secretary is a Muslim likewise our treasury are all Muslims”.

Speaking on the 2019 governorship ticket, the chairman said the slut is free for contest, he in addition buttressed that all elective positions are open for every party members.

On local government election, he described the inauguration of the Interim Management Committee Chairmen as illegality of the highest order, saying when those at the behest of affairs affirmed illegality, illegality will continue.

On the allegation of possible defection of the national Secretary of the party, Labaran Maku, the state chairman said the governorship candidate is an individual and has the right to jump ship.

“I’m not aware of the happenings whether he want to defect or not, Maku is an individual”.

The national vice President zone D,Chief Wilson Bako thank the leadership of the party for standing firm even after suffering form mass defect during the 2015 general election.

The chairman of the Correspondents ‘ Chapel ,Suleiman Abubakar commended the party for remaining focused, attesting that the Chapel is out to sue for peace.

He affirmed that the union would be supportive to any political party in the state,describing peace as a catalyst for prudent and rapid transformation.
