Fulani-Farmers Mass Exodus Is A Panic Movement-Governor Al-Makura

Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has attributed the mass exodus of Tiv natives and other ethnic groups from their permanent place of abode due to fear and panic.

The governor was speaking shortly after a visit to some effected places and scene of the killings of 7 persons by suspected Fulani Pastoralists in Kadarko.

Al-Makura asserted that the current uprising was a pressure on border areas through human migration.

He expressed concerned over the mass movement of children, old, pregnant women and the physically impaired.

“There was sign of hardship, despondency amongst the displaced persons”.

Urging security Chiefs to investigate the remote causes of the crisis, adding that a unit of military police, Army would be deploy to protect the lives and properties of the people.

The governor urged the Community Based Conflict Resolution to build confidence on the people, calling for daily meetings between monarchs, Youth group and other bodies.

He says the state government is worried over the trepidations people are passing through, attributing the happenings to pressure in the border towns.

The marathon meeting which lasted for 30 minutes was attended by all service Chiefs in the state.
