Yakubu Busari

Fuel scarcity has continued to hits harder in Plateau state capital as a gallon of 4 litres now sells for N900 naira in black market.

Many motorists were queuing to buy the product at black market while some are hoarding the fuel to make additional money.

The controller in charge of operation Department of Petroleum Resource (DPR), Mr. Douglas Caesar has fingered the situation to inadequate refinery and vandalism.

Mr. Douglas made the disclosure Monday while addressing our correspondent in   Jos.

He said the present fuel crisis is a national issue that needs urgent attention.

DPR is doing its best to monitor and managed fuel that comes to the States.

In his word, if our brothers stop vandalizing pipelines, petroleum product will flow and scarcity will reduce and also call on Federal Government to fix road to enable free flow of petroleum tankers.

According to him if we have adequate refinery that can process crude to final product in the country, our over reliance of imported products will reduce.

Also the breakage of cycle of inflow of fuel will not be there, because they will be lifting here and if our brothers stop vandalizing pipelines the product will flow and scarcity will reduce.

He called on general public not to patronized black marketers (Road side sellers) and illegal selling points because if they are not having customers they won’t be in business.

Caesar urged motorists to be patient, anywhere there is fuel they should patiently queue and report any filling station that sells above government pump price to the Department of Petroleum Resource DPR.
