FRSC Flag-Off Campaign On Speed Limit Device For Commercial Drivers In Plateau

Federal Road safety Corps  (FRSC) sector Commander Sunday Maku has flagged-off campaign and  advocated for synergy with commercial drivers to ensure speed limit device before 31st May, 2015.

He restated this on the occasion of mega rally advocacy program on speed limiting device for commercial vehicles in Nigeria at the RTEAN Motor park (Tomatoes market motor park ) Farin Gadaa Jos .

According to him, over 4,260 persons were reported killed by roads traffic crashes with an average of 12 persons died daily and 20,750 injured respectively.

The sector commander decried that available statistics records have shown that 50.8% of crashes that occurred on Nigeria roads are speed related and attention of commercial vehicles drivers on the Plateau have been drawn to ensure that their vehicles are fixed with the recent device.

Maku advised that several different strategies aimed at actualizing a better road safety culture in Nigeria have been introduced to reduce accidents on high way which manifested into sustained public enlightenment and improve vehicle administration with robust management to strengthen the system.

He promised to partners with the private cars owners to ensure accident free on the major roads across the state.

The sector commander reiterated that the transport is central to the development process of the healthy economy and social growth and the entire human settlements by demanding the attention of taxes drivers to achieve the set goal of being relevant in 20: 2020 vision of federal government.

He explained further that the deadline to commence the enforcement is 1st June,2015 which he calls on them corporate to achieve in reducing 30% .

The state secretary RTEAN, Alh Bunu Mustapha expressed satisfaction with the initiative which the state chapter introduced to reduce accident cases on major roads. He noted the idea will help the members in the fight against unnecessary accident.

The transport sector play significant role in the society in promoting national unity and social economic integration generating sense of togetherness and mutual understanding in a diverse society, he added.

He stressed that the members have been using the speed limit device on their vehicles long before that also reduce excessive speed of drivers on the highway.
