Former Chairmen of the twenty (20) local government areas of Bauchi State on Tuesday prayed for the peaceful conduct of the governorship and state Assembly elections on March 18.
At a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat, call for peaceful campaigns where developmental issues are supposed to be emphasized, rather than violence on our electorate.
Leader of the 20 former chairmen, Honorable Mahmoud Abba Yana, urged the people of the state to shun violence or perpetrators of such evil acts so as to have peaceful Elections.
According to them said that “We, therefore, condemn in totality the violence that has characterized campaigns of the All Progressives Congress Governorship Candidate in which lives were lost in Akuyam town of Misau Local Government and Duguri Town of Alkaleri Local Government, respectively.
Added that the vicious acts of violence witnessed in such campaigns if not curtailed will instill fear and apprehension in the minds of the good people of the state in the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections in the state.
“We also believe that our Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, Kauran Bauchi, Jagaban Katagum, has made tremendous efforts in providing unprecedented developments to the communities in the state in the last four years.
According to them said that governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has contributed immensely to the development of Bauchi State, added that in terms of the provision of roads across the state, educational facilities, provision of potable drinking water, health facilities, women and youth empowerment, construction and rehabilitation of palaces and houses of traditional rulers, agricultural inputs as well as security in the state.
The former Chairmen promise to work towards ensuring victory of the governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of Bauchi State and all party candidates ahead of March 18th.
