Hon. Sunday Apah, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions in the Ughelli South Legislative Arm, made this known during an inspection tour in an effort t ascertain the level of damages done to his people by the ravaging flood.
He said, “I am surprise at the level in which the flood destroyed property of my constituents. Many have been rendered homeless, but as a member of the Ughelli South Legislative Arm, I will do my best to see how the situation could be managed pending when help will come from the state and federal governments.
“As a local government, we can only do our best because of the meager resources from the federal government. I want to appeal to my people to be patient for a while, they will definitely be taken care of by the government”, he added.
Youth Leader of the People’s Democratic Party in Ughelli South Local Government Council, Mr. Sadiq Hitler, who also spoke to our correspondent, lamented how the flood destroyed his house wares and rendered him homeless.
Hitler appealed to the authority of Ughelli South Local Government Council, Delta State Government and the Federal Government to come to their aid, adding that if urgent step is not taken the community might be wipe out by the flood.
