Gunmen have killed no fewer than five soldiers with one unidentified civilian, in Umunze Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The incident was said to have occurred opposite a new generation bank in the community which is perhaps the busiest community in the local council.
Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State Tochukwu Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the story saying there was shooting in the town.
According to Daily Independent, Ikenga said that the Command has deployed its men to the area to ensure peace.
However he could not confirm the casualty figure, preferring that such inquiry be directed to the Army instead.
