Female Suicide Bomber Carried Out Bomb Explosion At Jonathan’s Presidential Rally In Gombe By Kalshingi H Jedidah

The explosion that happened yesterday, approximately 40 meters away from the venue of President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign rally in Gombe yesterday barely ten minutes after the president had left the venue was carried out by a female suicide bomber.
According to an eye witness, a female suicide bomber believed to be member of the Boko Haram Islamic sect was headed to the venue with the time bomb wrapped in her body but could not reach her target as the result of the tight security within and outside the venue.
“The woman has been hanging here for more than fifteen minutes we didn’t know she was carrying those devices because she was covered in ‘hijab’ all we could hear was a loud sound that left people running here and there, and then I saw her body parts scattered around the place, but we all believe she was headed to the venue but scared to reach there because of the tight security,” he added.
Other eye witnesses who were mostly people who were coming from the rally said the suicide bomber was killed bomb blast along with another female victim who was seen running away from the suicide bomber but could not escape the blast, while scores of others have sustained various degrees of injuries.
Confirming the incident from the State Police Command, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Fwaje Attajiri told reports through telephone conversation that the situation was under control by security agencies, he also confirmed that, one person was killed in the explosion including the suicide bomber, while 18 others have sustained injuries and were receiving treatments at Gombe Specialist Hospital.
While at the rally, President Goodluck assured the people of his commitment to improve on better the lives of Nigerians through various developmental initiatives if he has been re-elected into office as president of Nigeria. He said his administration will also focus on securing the future of the Nigerian Youth by ensuring their basic needs by creating opportunities that will provide massive employment for the youth.
The President, who said his administration has already been intervening in many ways to create job opportunities particularly for the youth over the years, also said his administration will continue to pay more attention on generation of power supply, improved agriculture, educational sector and more in other to create those opportunities if elected for the second term.
Earlier, the Executive Governor of the state, Alh Ibrahim Hassan Dakwambo expressed that, President Jonathan’s administration has been very supportive to the northeast states by bringing many developmental achievements into the area despite security challenges; he said the state in particular has enjoyed federal government developmental strides in many ways in the past four years. He however called on the people to massively support the party by ensuring they vote for the PDP candidates in the next coming general elections.
The was attended by many party supporters from within and across the state, party national leaders,  top government officials, and politicians, among them were the Vice President Namadi Sambo, the PDP national chairman, Alh Ahmed Muazu and others.
