Federal Government To Train 8 Agencies On Capacity Building To End Illegal Mining In Nigeria

The Minister of state Federal  Ministry of Mines and Steel Development ,represented by Engr Emmanuel Ishaku  has flag-off capacity building task force training modules for mines surveillance to create an enabling environment for the private investors partnerships with federal agencies to curtail illegal mining activities in Nigeria.

Ishaku who represented the state minister of mines and steel development at the capacity building for task force on illegal mining held at geosciences office in Jos said, the three days capacity building training modules is to identification of minerals using physical properties and mineral identification using modern equipment /field visit in Nigeria.

Wuyep explained that  the important of this  capacity building training to the following ; NSCDC, Army ,Police ,Immigration, DSS ,Federal ministry of Health ,Ministry of mines and steel development including others  .

He stressed further that the exercise would ensure the orderly and sustainable development of Nigeria mineral resources and to develop a well-planned and coherent program of exploitation of mineral resources taking into account the economic development, ecological and environmental factors.

According to him ,federal government establish the procedure for monitoring developments in the solid minerals sector and encourage the private investors in mineral resources ,balance then maintained between foreign an indigenous interest.

He also emphasized the level of  accelerate development of technical and professional manpower required in the mineral sectors and to provide extension services to mining cooperative on exploitation ,mineral processing and entrepreneurship training.

Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary Engr. Karnap Fenan Wuyep said the world market today is driving by metal capacity building to safeguard the private, public sectors as an autonomous institution and the sole agency regarding all matters relating to mineral titles.

He noted that responsible metallurgical inspectorate matters and the development of minerals raw material for the metallurgical industry and set up standards of steel produced in the country, in liaison with appropriate bodies.

The key objective principles for regulating the mining sector activities which serve as a risk management tool for investor and critical components of the investment decision, he added.
