Tom Garba

The Governing Council, Federal polytechnic Mubi has called on Governor Mohammadu Umaru Jibrila Bindow of Adamawa State to intervene in the land tussle between the polytechnic and the host community.

Mr Bassey Usang,  Chairman of the Council made the call on Wednesday during a courtesy visit on the government in Yola.

Usang said that the institution’s was experiencing a lot of encroachment in recent time.

He said that some people had removed some existing beacons with the pretext that their fathers were not paid compensation when the land was acquired for the institution.

He however, said that there were valid documents showing that compensation was paid with names of recipients on the payment schedule.

The chairman appealed to the governor to direct the Surveyor General of the State to re-establish the removed beacons.

He also requested the Governor to facilitate the obtaining of a Certificate of Occupancy for the institution.

According to him, this will go a long way in stopping many of the distractions we are currently experiencing from land speculators.

Usang commended the governor for the construction of the three klm road that passes the frontage of the institution.

He also sought the assistance of the state government in improving the infrastructural development on the Mubi campus.

In his remark,  Bindow said that the government would look into the issue of encroachment on the polytechnic land.

He assured the council that he would address their issue quickly and commended the Rector, Dr Sadiq Yahya for making the polytechnic a world class type.

He assured the council and management of the administration commitment to support education in the state for the provision of quality manpower.
