The Senate on Tuesday announced plans to organise another all inclusive security summit over insecurity in Nigeria.
The Senate had in February 2018 organised a two-day National Security Summit chaired by Senator Ahmad Lawan when he was the Senate Leader.
The Senate’s decision to organise another security summit was as a result of point of order raised by Senator Ayo Akinyelure over the assassination of Funke Olakunrin, daughter of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
Speaking on the motion, Senate President Lawan said there is the need for robust, all inclusive National Security Summit to find lasting solutions to the security problem in the country.
According to him: “The security situation is pervasive, everyone has the story to tell, we need all inclusive National Security Summit to find lasting solution to security problem in the country.”
Coming under point of order, Akinyelure expressed dissatisfaction with the assassination of Olakunrin by unknown gunmen.
Thereafter, the entire Senate condemned the assassination of Olakunrin.
