Farmers/Herdsmen Embrace Peace And Respect The Right Of One Another – Gov. Buni

In continuation of its security sensitisation and enlightenment campaign to traditional institutions across the state, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State Hon Idi Barde Gubana on Monday visited Fune and Ngelzarma Emirates councils.

 

While in Fune the Deputy and his entourage were received and briefed by his royal Highness the emir of Fune Alhaji Mai Saleh Idris iibn Usman.

 

The purpose of the meeting was to avoid frequent clashes between farmers and herdsmen in order to boost food production in the state.

 

The meeting was imperative considering the importance of peace to the agricultural sector and to the socio-economic of any society.

 

Gubana urged them not to take the law into their hands no matter the damage done to their crops, adding that they should report their grievances to the appropriate authority for necessary action.

 

The emir of Fune urged the people of his domain to be law-abiding, respect constituted authorities, and not engage in acts capable of tarnishing their image and the image of the security.

 

The Deputy Governor’s entourage proceeded to Ngelzarma Emirate council where he was received by the Emir, Alh Mohammed Maiyeri ibn Isa 111 the Deputy tasked the stakeholders, Bulamas Lawans and representatives of Fulani groups to mobilize their communities to exercise vigilante with timely information.

 

The Emir of Ngelzarma Alh Mohammed Maiyeri ibn Isa 111 noted that no nation or society can develop in an atmosphere of rancour and confusion urged his domain to intensify prayers for peace.

 

Some of the Fulani’s who speaks at the meeting pledged their commitment to continue to leave in peace by avoiding taking the law into their hands.

 

The Deputy was accompanied by the Commissioner of Justice Barr. Saleh Samanja, Commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy affairs, Deputy commissioner of police, Deputy commandant NSCDC, DSS, SSA security, Deputy Director security SSG’s office as well as representatives of Fulani groups.
