The Chairman Association of Local Government of Nigeria, Nasarawa state chapter, Suleiman Wambai has lambasted the chairman of the opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party in the state to stage manage the internal. Wranglings that wreak havoc to the entire party structure at Federal, state and local governments levels.
Wambai in an interview with selected Journalists at the state ministry for local government and Chieftaincy affairs challenged the People’s Democratic Party under the leadership of Hon. Francis Orogu to bury his head in shame for the bad legacies the party left behind at both Federal and state level.
He described the sixteen years of PDP ruler ship as wasted years of nothing; the Interim Management Committee chairman of Lafia local government stated this while reacting on the call by the state PDP Chairman to the state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura to conduct council election.
He said the coming in of the IMC Chairmen was to avert system anarchy by leaving a vacant seat of the third tier of government, saying he remain an advocate of “doctrine of necessity”.
“I don’t have time to join issues with the People’s Democratic Party instead the chairman should go and face the serious cracks in the party”,
“With the biting effect of recession where the money to conduct council election is, he further unveiled that the state government expended a whopping N1bn to conduct local government election”.
He described democratically elected officials at the third tier of government as the most expensive system, adding that elected officials consumed vast of the resource accrued to local government.
“Like in Lafia local government elected officials received N8m monthly as wage bill, council chairman collect N800,000 while IMC collect N210,000 as salary, he revealed.
Reacting over percentage payment to workers in the state, the ALGON Chairman position blame on organized labour for withholding information, saying the percentage payment was signed and sealed between labour leaders.
“Organized labour agreed on sharing anything that comes from federation account and this. what was obtainable why are they shouting over percentage payment, he asked.
