The dirty deals of the Plateau State Ministry for Tourism has been exposed, as gathered it is being alleged that the staff of Jos Hotel is romancing with the private company owner to turn the aged long building into short time abattoir for commercial sex workers, even as the environment is faced with dilapidated structures that greets visitors from a distance.
Plateau Hotel was built and commissioned during the then Joseph D Gwomwalk to accommodate state civil servants and visitors coming into the state as “, home of peace and tourism ” but the vandalized edifice with dilapidated structures is now wide open as a home for reptiles.
Information available this medium shows that Plateau state under the able leadership of Governor Simon Lalong in 2017 decided to privatize the said hotel to allow the private sector to take over, this was done due to poor funding coupled with the bad shape of the hotel which was yearning for urgent government attention but some of the staff of the said ministry are now bent on using the contractor to siphon money for their upkeep.
In the signing agreement the private company was to renovate and put the structure into proper use which is almost one year down the line, as it is no single development has been done to uplift the hotel but rather they have turned the place as a place for short time rest for commercial sex activities including churches who hijacked the compound.
However, information reaching us indicates that after the expiration of one year given to the private investor, the state government decided to extend it to additional six months but right now the building still appears like an abandoned wall of Jericho that has fallen flat.
Besides this development, the aim of the Government of Plateau state to internally generate revenue from the hotel have not been achieved.
According to available facts most governments owned hotels are suffering neglect making the task payers suffer untold hardship especially Hill station Hotel as well as other government properties.
