The former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Lafia, Professor Ekanem Braide may have harvested seeds of discord before she left the institution; this medium learnt that her actions may have been the reason for  the two days strike action embarked by staff of the institution last week

An insider said the staff of the federal University were protesting an attempt by the institution to pay fifty (50) percent salary instead of full salary to them.

Feelers from the institution revealed that the University is over staffed following the issuance of unapproved appointments by Professor Ekanem, the former Vice Chancellor who during her time piloted the affairs of the Federal University Lafia like her personal property, fresh facts emerged that Ekanem issued employment letter to persons who are not qualified to the job.

Is no longer news that Nasarawa state indigents were relegated to the background as indigenes’ of Rivers and Benue state were employed to cover the chances of Nasarawa People.

Impeccable source revealed that some of the employees were only engaged but without scheduled of duty, it was unveiled that the employment was not based on merit, even as pundits hinted that the management of the University exchanged money for appointment letters.

This medium gathered that  before her sack, Professor Ekanem was still issuing out appointment letters to highly placed persons in the state.

A competent source said the institution lavished all the money that was budgeted to the school by the federal ministry of education apart from the money generated from tuition fees and from other sources until the introduction of Treasury Single Account.

“The introduction of TSA was the last straw that broke the camel’s back, all other leakages were blocked and this ignited tension  and the Vice Chancellor was in the eyes of the storm over the purported clue about her incessant appointment of persons believed to be her husband’s acolytes or her kinsmen from Rivers state.

The protest was coming at a time the vice chancellor  was removed  from the school being the pioneer vice chancellor of the school.
