Executive Secretary Nigerian Press Council Mourns Death Of Predecessor

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council, NPC,  Dr. Dili Ezughah, has described the recent passing of his predecessor in office, Mr. FrancExecutiis Ndubuisi Nwosu, as a huge loss to the Nigerian media industry.

Reacting to the sudden demise of Mr. Nwosu, barely seven months after leaving office,  the NPC Executive Secretary expressed deep shock, regretting that Mr. Nwosu died when his rich experience and uncompromising bent on professionalism were mostly needed to foster ethical journalism in the country.

According to him, “Mr. Nwosu was among the few standing veterans who desired nothing less than excellence and undiluted professionalism in the media, right from his glorious days in the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN”.

Dr. Ezughah remarked that Mr. Nwosu’s relentless commitment to professionalism in the media, as a fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors,  informed his advocacy for the replacement of the Nigerian Press Council with a new agency to be known as Media Certification Board, which will  be saddled with the responsibility of issuing licences to qualified professionals to practise journalism in the country.

Dr. Ezughah said Mr. Nwosu would always be remembered for his efforts to reposition the Nigerian Press Council  and strengthen  the Nigerian press during his three-year tenure as the Executive Secretary of the Council.

“My heart goes out to his family at this trying moment. May his gentle soul continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord”, Dr. Ezughah said.
