Ex-Deputy Chairman Of APC In Delta, Accuses Omo-Agege Of Masterminding His Suspension

A former deputy chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, Elvis Ayomanor, on Tuesday, described his purported expulsion from the party as “a nullity.”

Ayomanor accused the Senate Deputy President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of alleged complicity in his political travails.

While responding to the allegations, Ayomanor, in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen in Asaba said, “I want to state here in black and white, that I, Elvis O. Ayomanor, the acting State Chairman of APC Delta State Caretaker Committee was never; I am not and I will never be a member of the above mentioned Ovie Omo-Agege political vanguard.

“It is surprising to see on social media that the exco of the so-called Ovie Omo-Agege support group, saying they are suspending me from their pressure group. A group I do not belong to, in the first place.

“APC is a political party, not a pressure group. For now, by law, and the consent judgment, exco is still very much valid in Delta because the ward congresses and Local Government Area congresses in Delta State were conducted in breach of court orders and in total disregard for the constitutional provision of our party the APC. Thus, it amounts to nullity and unrecognized by the totality of the leaders and members of APC Delta State.

“Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege is not the leader of the party, neither is he our party’s governorship candidate, so he does not have the powers to assume the candidacy of the party for 2023.”

It would be recalled that the Executive Committee of the APC in Sapele Ward 7 in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State had while ratifying Ayomanor’s purported expulsion from the party over the weekend, as allegedly recommended by the Ward Disciplinary Committee, accused the ex-state deputy chairman of anti-party activities.

The Committee had also indicted him of “disobedience in carrying out lawful directives of the party and for conducts aimed at bringing the party into disrepute and public opprobrium”, claiming that the expulsion was pursuant to Article 21, Paragraph B (i) of the APC Constitution (as amended).
