Catholic Media Professionals Association(COMPASS) has called on the Federal Government to fully act and enforced the Freedom of Information law .
This order was issued to create a conducive atmosphere, in the areas of security and bottle- necks hampering the professional and hitch free access to information.
This was contained in a communique signed and issue at the end of the 6th Regional conference in Makurdi Benue state,recently.
The statement observed with dismay the infiltration of quack into the journalism profession, which negates professionalism, thereby causing discord and disaffection in their reportage.
The statement cautioned that, recommended regulatory bodies should screen practitioners to avoid unprofessionalism.
Its tasked ,Professional to abide by the ethics of the profession so that it would enhance the dignity of the job.
The communique further charged Media Professionals to give more attention to the developmental and grass root reports,stressing that, the profession gives less attention to the developmental and the grassroots news coverage, concentrating more on government programs, politicians and urban events..
The challenged members to identify with the association and embrace the faith in their media organizations.
The statement appealed to the Bishops and Priests to motivate and support the association in their dioceses.
