The Federal capital territory, Abuja branch of Zaar/Sayawa socio-cultural group, Zaar Development Association (ZDA) is set to distributes empowerment packages to over one hundred Widows and Vulnerable Children in order to enable them start meaningful businesses.
The Chairman of the Association, Mr. John Haruna Rike who disclosed this in a press release, noted that the empowerment packages are going to be distributed to the beneficiaries who have acquired various skills.
He said that the beneficiaries are going to be provided with the basic equipment, machines and raw materials, grants as starter packs to enable them increase the capacity of some of their existing businesses.
According to Mr. Haruna Rike, other business initiatives would also be introduced to the women and the vulnerable Children (orphans) for them to become self reliant.
Mr. John Haruna Rike who was speaking during a launching/ fund raising ceremony in Abuja over the weekend, explained that the occasion was organized to raise capital that would be distributed to the would-be beneficiaries.
According to him, the official date for the distribution of the empowerment packages is going to be announce after the launching.
The Abuja branch ZDA chairman added that it was not the first time such initiative is been embarked upon to assist widows and orphans by the association.
Mr. Rike further noted that the Association has been assisting widows and other vulnerable persons every year as measures to improve their living standard.
He pointed out that such assistance has made many that have benefited in the past became entrepreneurs as well as employers of labour.
Speaking during the occasion, Hon.Koro Auta who is a flag-bearer for Karu, Keffi and Kokono Federal constituency, expressed delight with the initiative which he said is worthy of emulation by others.
Hon. Koro enjoined the leadership of the Association to ensure equitable distribution of the funds to the target beneficiaries.
On his part, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Bogoro, Dass and Tafawa Balewa House of Representatives seat, Hon, Barr. Kefas Musa Magaji commended the organizers for doing a good job, adding that the initiative will no doubt improve the economic condition of the widows and the orphans.
Magaji appealed to his Zaar kinsmen in Abuja and across the globe to support his bid to become member House of representatives.
“Love and care is one of the factors that will give us victory”, he added.
The House of Representatives PDP candidate promised the people of Dass, Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa quality and purposeful representation if elected to represent them in 2023.
In a closing remark, the chairman planning committee Mr. Bitrus Nehemiah Gade expressed appreciation to the politicians, entrepreneurs, academicians, Women and Youths who contributed immensely to the success of the programme.
Mr. Nehemiah promised proper handling of the funds generated from donors during the occasion for the betterment of Zaar Land and Nigeria at large.
