Elombah Sues Inspector General Of Police N2 Billion, For Unlawful Arrest And Detention

Elombah brothers on Monday filed a N2 billion suit against the Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim over unlawful arrest and detention of Daniel Elombah and his brothers.

Elombahs through their counsel Mazi Afam Osuigwe is demanding for a sum of N2 billion compensation for the embarrassment caused the family by the arrest and detention of Daniel Elombah, Tim Elombah and Izuchukwu Elombah .

The plaintiffs asked High Court of the Federal Capital Territory to restrain the Inspector General of Police or Nigerian Police Force from violating or further threatening to violate the fundamental rights of Daniel Elombah, Izuchukwu Elombah and Chief Obum Ohaegbu.

The Elombahs asked court to direct Nigerian Police Force and IGP to release the following items two HP laptops,  one techno Tablet, three Techno mobile phones to them.

The plaintiffs also sought an order from court directing Police and IGP to tender public apology to the Applicant.

They further asked court’s declaration that it is unlawful by the respondent to break into the applicant’s house,  arrest him and transport him from Anambra state to Abuja and detain him over alleged publication of an alleged defamatory article.

In addition,  they asked the court to declearing that it is unlawful for Police or IGP to threaten to violate the fundamental right of the Applicant as guaranteed by the constitution of federal Republic of Nigeria.

The plaintiff asked the court to prevent Police from restricting the Applicant and by extension his wife and children from traveling back to United Kingdom to resume work and school respectively.
