El-Rufai’s son, Bello denies claims of EFCC discovering drugs, $800m, N700bn in his residence

The eldest son of the former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-rufai, Bello has refuted claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, raided his Kaduna residence and discovered drugs and funds in different currencies stashed in vaults.

He insisted that the allegations were false and a calculated effort to undermine his credibility.

Social media was awash recently that EFCC uncovered $800 million, N700 billion cash, and N1 trillion worth of drugs at el-Rufai’s residence in Kaduna.

However, in riposte articulated in a statement, el-rufai, who is the current House of Representative member, representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, insisted that he did not own an apartment in Kaduna but rather their family home in Unguwar Sarki, where he stayed and it had been home for him right from birth.

According to him, the unfounded allegation was nothing but a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, tarnish his reputation, and sow the seed of confusion.

“My constituents that I represent know what will happen if I was blessed with such figures. For those sponsoring these ignorant attacks, I assure you that we will continue to serve the people, and we will continue to enjoy what annoys them; adding quality, frank, and honest representation is here to stay in Kaduna North.

“The use of fake news to manipulate public perception and instigate discord, is not only defamatory but an affront to the principles of justice and fairness,” he stated.

He maintained that his legal team would institute legal action against some media outfits, and the money they pay for their lies would be put to good use in Kaduna North.
