Edo Assembly Speaker, Six Others Formally Decamps To PDP, As Assembly Adopts  Its Business Calendar For The Second Session, Second Quarter , 2020

The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Frank Abumere Okiye and six other members of Edo State House of Assembly has formally decamped from the All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People Democrats Party (PDP) at the floor of the House during today’s plenary.

 

Rt. Hon. Okiye who announced the receipt of the letters from the six members including himself to decamp to the ruling party in the state was borne out of the fact that they would like to identify with the developmental strides of the performing Governor of the state Mr. Godwin Obaseki to move the Edo state forward.

 

The speaker who also attributed the sharp division and factions in the All Progressive Congress Party in the state as one of the reasons they are crossing to the People Democrats Party to enable them to perform their duties effectively as representative of their Constituencies.

 

Those who formally decamped are:

Rt.Hon Frank Okiye,

Hon. Asoro Osadebamwen Roland. Hon. Aluebhosele Ephraim

Hon. Ojiezele Osezua Sunday.

Hon. Okhuarobor Henry. Hon. Okoduwa Emma and

Hon. Marcus Onobun.

 

In another development. Edo State House of Assembly has adopted the Business Calendar for the second quarter, the second session of the 7th Assembly 2020.

 

Presenting the report to the House the majority leader, Hon. Okhuarobor Henry stated that the Calendar will see the House sitting for 62 days in the second quarter. 3 days in September. 21 days in October. 21 days in November and 17 days in December.

 

In the same vein, The speaker Rt. Hon Frank Okiye announced the receipt of A Bill for a law to established a college of Education and other connected purposes from the Executives Governor of the state Mr. Godwin Obaseki.

 

Conclusively, the speaker congratulated the Governor of the state Mr. Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy Rt.Hon Phillips Shuaibu on their victory at the just concluded Governorship election. He said the Governor’s victory is a victory for the Edo people because the people spoke with one voice at the poll and urged him to be magnanimous in his victory.

 

The House adjourned to the 12th of October 2020 at 10 am.
