ECWA Wants Federal Government To Diversify The Economy

The President, Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) ,Rev.Dr Jeremiah Gado has said,the. Church advised the federal government to implore other viable areas of the economy, such as agriculture, solid minerals, information technology to diversify Nigeria.

Gado stated this at communique presented at the end of the 63th general church council ,GCC ,meeting of ECWA held at its headquarters conference Hall in Jos,Plateau State.

He called on the church to join government to fight corruption by preaching the gospel that would make people desist from corrupt tendencies and embrace honesty,transparency and accountability.

ECWA commended the federal government in its effort to deal with insurgency and manage the current economic crisis bedeviling the country .

The cleric, however, cautioned against any attempt to subvert the right to freedom of worship.

Gado said the church notes that the efforts of the federal government to recover stolen public funds and commends the courage behind it and cautioned that funds recovered are not re-looted .

He urged government to respect the fundamental human rights of the suspects  in the process it asks the government to thoroughly investigate every corruption case and pursue it diligently to a logical conclusion.

Adding ,he advises court judges to be more circumspect. In granting injunctions and be more painstaking in the adjudication of corruption.

The GCC notes with concern the perennial fuel scarcity in the country which has further worsened the economic situation and difficulty Nigerians go through and calls on government to find a lasting solution to the problem.

The council expressed worry at the rising cases of crime and criminality such as armed robbery ,ritual killings ,cultism ,kidnapping/abduction for ransom where several citizens have fell victims including pastors and called on the government to stem the tide.
