Economic Development: Gombe Creates 1752 Jobs Through Entrepreneurial Programme

Gombe state government  has created not less than 1752 jobs in the last four years  following its Enterpreneual Development Partnership with Bank of Industry (BOI) which was kicked started through signing of Memorandum of Understanding in 2011.

Gombe state executive governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo represented by the state deputy governor, Dr Charles Iliya stated in Gombe on Thursday while delivering a speech and welcome address at the commissioning of  new zonal office of the Bank Of Industry. According to him through the Entrepreneurial Development Partnership Scheme Programme which was launched in the state in 2011, had enable the state to creation 1190 indirect  and 562 indirect jobs, making a total of 1752 total jobs over the years. According to him, not less than 171 enterprises were also established in 24 agricultural and mineral product lines.

Dankwambo who said the effort was to enhance economic development drive of the state, said, the programme had succeeded in contributing to the development of medium and small scale industries thereby enhancing economic activities, enhanced revenue generation, and reduced poverty level in the state.

The governor however, expressed government’s commitment towards honoring all agreement as signed in the MOU, even as he urged the bank to begin exploration of possibilities of revolving proceeds from the loans repayments in other to clear all pending loans.

The managing Director of the BOI Mr Rasheed Olaoluwa also journalists in an interview that, the BOI North East Zonal Office was brought to the state with a view to bring more developmental services of the BOI more closer to the people, even as he said, one of the aim was also to bring the dimension of the Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneuship into their specific clusters.

He disclosed that, the BOI had already looked at 24 different clusters in the federation including agro-processing, meat-processing, and more, with a view to create more jobs in the country
