Desertherald Publisher Arrested On The Orders Of FCT Minister

The publisher and Editor in Chief of DESERT HERALD Newspaper, Tukur Mamu, was Tuesday afternoon taken away from his office by some unknown men.

This people, who later identified themselves as men of the Nigeria Police, took him to the State CID Annex office in Kaduna where they said they were sent with an arrest warrant from an Abuja Magistrate Court to arrest Mamu in connection with the yet to be released book on the FCT administration.

From Kaduna, Mamu was taken on a motor ride to Abuja but to an unknown destination in particular.

This came barely three weeks after the FCT Minister instituted a legal action Desert Herald and Mamu in an Abuja High Court 27, and after all efforts to blackmail Desert Herald failed.

The FCT Minister has been trying to stop Mamu from publishing his book: FCT ADMINISTRATION: The Rot Within! While Mamu insists that the work he started on the said book must be completed.

So we ask: Where is the much talked about Press Freedom?
