On Tuesday, December 28th, 2021, in Owerri, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, the 2019 Action Alliance, AA, Governorship candidate, and a Son-In-law to Imo former governor, Senator Rochas Okorocha, in a Press Conference, the aftermath of his arrest by the Nigerian Police in his Eziama Obaire hometown Church, during the Thanksgiving Service of his late mother on Sunday, December 26th Dec.2021.
Ugwumba Nwosu who regained his freedom within 24 hours of the arrest, lamented and recounted his ordeal in the hands of the policemen, who had opened fire in the church and forcefully dragged him away.
Nwosu stated that at about 11:30 am that day, some military officials were seen outside the church, and thereafter, about 15 masked policemen stormed into the church and dragged him to an unknown destination.
Nwosu revealed that he was beaten up and his life was threatened, then forced into a van where his clothes were torn into pieces and the Police who came on the hatchet job took photographs of him.
He stated that he was pushed down from the vehicle around Njaba, and transferred to another vehicle and from there, he was taken to Enugu State all the way from Imo State.
Ugwumba revealed that his supposed abductors spoke in Hausa language to somebody on phone, not knowing he understood Hausa.
He said pictures of him were taken as well as a video which was sent to a Shaba who he claimed was in Government House Owerri.
Nwosu said he was taken to a private jet in Enugu, where he was then told by three other operatives that there was a petition written against him, and flew him to Abuja from where he was later interviewed after the IGP intervened.
Nwosu accused the Imo State government of being behind the arrest, as he claimed that vehicles involved in the arrest were from Government House.
Nwosu alleged that the plot was to kill him not to arrest him, and thanked the media for circulating the information which saved his life.
Nwosu lamented his humiliation, especially the uploading of his pictures where he was handcuffed to social media.
The embattled Nwosu, therefore, called on the IGP to find out those behind the act, those who hired the private jet that flew him to Abuja, and those behind the desecration of the church.
