I Defected To APC To Give My People The Best Democracy Dividends, Hon Afon Tells PDP

The member representing Pengana in the Plateau House of Assembly, Hon Ezekiel Afon has said the decision to defect to the APC was born out of the desire to give his people the best, having realized that the PDP platform that brought him on board lacks vision to lead and has continued to engage itself in power tussles and other retrogressive tendencies.

Afon stated this during a courtesy called to him in his office by the Pengana youths.

According to him, for the past two years he has worked with the APC, he has seen the zeal and purposeful leadership driving style of the APC’s administration that hinges on taking the people of the state to the next level.

“I have taken this robust and giant step as sacrificial lamb to liberate my people. I know what has has transpired and is on ground and I know what is in the offing, and I have taking this action for good of the people of Pengana.

“I have been in the PDP, but since I entered into this house as a member the Party has been in crises from national to the ward, and it is a common knowledge that no development without peace.

He however appeals to his supporters to remain firm, promising they will not regret the action.

Meanwhile the Speaker, Rt Hon. Peter Azi appealed to electorates to exercise patients with their representatives in the house over their inability to attract projects to their constituents in the last two years.

Hon Azi appeal was at the Assembly complex while playing host to Pengana youth Movement who stormed the House on solidarity visit to identify with the decision taken by the member representing Pengana constituency in the house, Hon. Ezekiel Afon to defects to the All Peoples Congress, APC.

The Speaker maintained that since the eight Assembly of the state came on board two years ago, they have never received a penny for constituency projects.

He applauded the decision of Hon. Afon for taking a bold step to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, to join the ruling party, All Peoples Congress, APC, saying it is a welcome development which according to him, his defection has increased the number of APC members in the house to Seventeen.

He described Hon. Afon as a passionate legislator who has concern about his constituents and has never shown party differences in the legislative affairs, and called on the people of Pengana to remain peaceful and rally around him to enable him succeed.
