Death tolls rise to 15 people on Sunday fresh attack in Jos East Local government and 230 head of cattle rustled in Yelwa town , shendam Plateau state by unknown gunmen
Our reporter gathered that the gunmen struck Yelwa village at the early hours of yesterday morning and started shooting sporadically killing about 15 Persons. Also over 230 cattle were rustled by the rampaging gunmen.
In a related development unknown gunmen suspected to be fulani herdsmen also attacked Babayo-Zarazong village in Jos East Local and Government Area of Plateau state killing 2 persons and burned down houses
Our correspondent gathered that about 15 homes were razed down by the gunmen in Jos east .
The police public relation officer,DSP Abu Emmanuel confirmed that their was an attack in shendam and persons were killed , he however said he does not have the exact figures of those killed in the attack
Another source from shendam who does not want his name in Print said, the gunmen who came in their numbers were heavily armed with dangerous weapons and started shooting sporadically and burning houses in the early hours of the morning.
Abu Emmanuel added that the commissioner of Police, Plateau state command,CP Nasiru Oki has deployed enough security to the attacked villages to control the security situation in both locations
He said, no arrest has been made and the Police is doing everything possible to bring the culprit to book.
The Chairman of Langtang North Local Government council,Hon Nanmwa Kumzhi refuted the allegation of cattle rustle linking the Tarok people.
He said the native of Tarok are not responsible for death of those people but condemned the killing and described it’s as barbaric.

According to him, because of some unknown gunmen reported to have been killed, while over four hundreds and thirteen cattle were rustled in the locality ofYelwa in Shendam and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas, of Plateau State.
The herders were said to have been attacked and killed, in a village close to Yelwan Shandam at about 4 pm on Sunday, while other cattle were rustled in the evening at Dorowa village.
A local source had confirmed that the deceased herders were attacked by unknown gun men, who later rustled over two hundred cattle into Taraba State.
Also conforming the incident the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Plateau State Chapter, Alhaji Haruna Boro Hussaini, saying “it was true that 5 of our People were, confirmed killed by Tarok People of Lantang and had gutted away with them 278 cattle.”
Alhaji Hussain, said the matter was reported to the soldiers stationed at Yelwa, stressing that. “But the soldiers has said that the matter has over powered them, so they could not do anything.”
He said apart from the killings of his members, another 135 cattle were also rustled at Dorowa village, “In the evening of Sunday, and were rustled into Fan village of Bark in Ladi Local Government Area of the State.”
He further said MACBAN, in the state is saddened by the repeated attacks, killings of their members as well as rustling of their cattle.
According to him such an acts has been a major set back to the cause of peace in the state.
The Special Task Force (STF),media/information officer Captain Ikedichi Iweha, has confirmed the incidents.
He said: “It was true that some cattle were rustled at Dorowa, and the cattle were recovers , those in connection were also arrested. And efforts were ongoing towards recovering those in Yelwan Shendam.”
