The Minister of State for Power, Hon. Mohammed Wakil has decried the escalation in Boko Haram attacks in Borno state and particularly in Damboa town, commiserating with victims and pledging military and humanitarian support for the people.
In a statement issued on Monday, the minister expressed sadness at the relentless killings of innocent souls and the destruction of multi million naira properties in the holy month of Ramadan, describing the development as a sad turn and a depressing experience for the people of Borno state.

‘’I am at pain with my people on this incessant killings and destruction of lives and properties. We are all collectively sad for such horrendous attacks. We are at loss as to why killings for no just cause are the pass time of this group. I commiserate with our people who lost loved ones and properties in the attacks.
‘’I want to reassure our people that the Federal Government is working round the clock to tame this insurgency. While our pains are much, this administration has not abandoned us and President Goodluck Jonathan is ever committed to restoring peace. I am in touch with relevant authorities and actions are on to tame the terrorists and restore normalcy to our region’’, the minister noted in the statement.
He called on religious leaders to intensify prayers for peace while also calling on the insurgents to cease hostility.
