The Former Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung has received the sad news following the death of his kinsman Reverend Dr. Alexander Mamdip Lar, Former President of Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) who died after a brief illiness on Friday 3rd January, 2020 in Jos.

In a condolence letter, Dalung described late Baba Alexander Lar as one examplary leader and devoted Servant of God that will be greatly missed.

The letter read:

The Family of Alexander,

Pajat, Langtang North LGA,

Plateau State.

CONDOLENCE OVER THE TRANSITION OF REV. DR. ALEXANDER LAR

The news of the glorious exit of our dear father and  Spiritual Leader, Reverend Dr. Alexander Mamdip Lar was received with a heavy heart but also thanksgiving to God Almighty for a life well spent.

Baba indeed lived a life well and truly spent in faithful service to the Almighty God. He was one exemplary leader and devoted Servant of God, whose unquestionable commitment to the Service of our Lord Jesus Christ was evident in his passion, sacrifice and missionary activities in Nigeria and beyond, to which he committed his entire life.

He was the 2nd President of Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) of Tarok extraction after late Reverend Damina Bawado. Before his home calling Rev.Dr. Lar was Chairman, Board of Trustees of COCIN, a position he held until his death. He served as a member of the Board for over 50 years.

The history of the Church on the Plateau and Nigeria at large cannot be complete without reference to the legacies of Baba Alexander Lar especially in the growth and transformation of COCIN,  Spiritual Teaching, Mentorship, Leadership and Community Service. He was a model in selfless service to the body of Christ.

Baba Rev.Dr. Alexander Mamdip Lar has ran the race and his crown no doubt awaits him in heaven. May we also be found worthy when it is time to answer that call.

It is my sincere prayer that God Almighty will comfort the immediate family of Baba Alexander,  Tarok Nation, COCIN Family and the good people of Plateau State and grant us the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.

Kindly accept my deepest condolences and assurances of my kind regards.

Signed

Barrister Solomon Selcap Dalung,

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Development

Federal Republic of Nigeria

May his soul rest in peace, Amen.
