Less than twenty four hours after the Nasarawa state governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura mended the sour relationship between him and the members of the press in the state, thugs identified to be core supporters of the All Progressives Congress who are four in number  attacked Hir Joseph, a Daily Trust reporter in Nasarawa.

The four angry looking gang pounced on the reporter at Lafia square, the venue of the inauguration ceremony of governor Al-Makura second term in office.

The thugs called out the reporter from his colleague reporting for channels Television also covering the state, If not the timely intervention of the Police Public Relation Officer, ASP, Ismaila Numan the thugs and some mobile policemen would have join in the molestation of Daily Trust reporter, Hir Joseph.

The armed squad of the Joint security operatives instead of rescuing the reporter insisted that reporter be removed from the venue despite the intervention of the force spokesperson.

A top government functionary who was at the scene of the incident raised eyebrow as some Journalists attempted to have a snap shot of the happenings but were warned or faced the same treatment.

Hir was whisked out of the venue in an ambulance stationed at Lafia Square to the intensive Care Unit of the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, all effort to provide security to the molested Journalist proved abortive as the Police PRO averred that he was not in position to provide security to the Daily Trust reporter, according to leaders of NUJ in the state who explained their discussion on telephone.

As of the time of filling this report, the embattled reporter of Daily Trust has since been transferred  from Dash to unknown health centre due to lack of security cover.

It will be recalled that Hir Joseph was  reporting for Daily Trust in Makurdi the Benue State Capital until he was beaten up and his car smashed on the orders of the former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswan.
