CSO-BASAM Commends Bala For Achieving Allocation Of 15 Percent To Health Sector

The co-chair of Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (BASAM) Mr. Abu John on Tuesday commended Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir of the state for achieving the 15 Percent allocation to the health sector in the state.

Mr. John said that the allocation of 15 Percent to health will definitely help the sector in running some of its activities.

The co-chair gave the commendations during the dissemination of the BASAM program from January to June 2023 Universal Health Coverage Scorecard Series 2 at the command guest house in Bauchi.

He said that Governor Bala has good intentions by doing what he is doing but good intentions cannot monitor what is been released so that they can oversight other agencies it’s used to achieve what is main for.

He added that the 15 Percent budget allocation is a minimal percent benchmark and that even if the Federal government allocates 40 percent of the budget, it may not give the quality of services that health requires that’s why they are advocating for the improved optic of the health insurance.

In his part, the Bauchi State House of Assembly chairman committee on budget appropriation, Barrister Habibu Umar a member representing Kirfi Constituency, said members of the assembly are always supporting the health sector in terms of budget allocation.

He said that the government will try to give the health sector enough resources in order to continue running their activities for the good people of Bauchi State.

He stated that after giving the allocation, the government will go around the ministry to see whether the budget that has been allocated is used carefully or not.
