There are indications that the kitchen cabinet of Governor Mua’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State is engulfed in series of crisis due to their inability to agree on one nominee to serve as the deputy governor of the anointed gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in Niger state, Umar Nasko.
A very dependable source close to the seat of power revealed that throughout Sunday Night, 21st December, 2014, all efforts to agree on the choice of one candidate among the nominated one failed to yield positive results.
The proposed nominees are the present Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs who also was the chief driver of the unconstitutional primary elections in person of Kantigi, the present Commissioner for Agriculture and supervising commissioner for tertiary education, Professor Yahaya Kuta.
Also amongst are Idris Ndako Kpaki, Sani Ndanusa and the present acting state chairman of the PDP and a former speaker of the Niger state house of the assembly, Hon. Wali Taimako, all from Zone A, the nupe speaking Zone of Niger state.
Observers believe that the crisis if not properly and carefully handled might cause the total collapse of the PDP in Niger state, thus giving a smooth ride for the opposition party’s gubernatorial candidate Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, a onetime commissioner who resigned from this administration due to irregularities of Governor Aliyu’s system of leadership.
Another advantage of the APC’s candidate is that he has a more decent past engagements than Umar Nasko.
