Court Restrains Niger State NLC From Embarking On Strike

The Niger State Government has secured an order of interim injunction restraining the Comrade Idris Yahaya Ndako, Chairman, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Comrade Yunusa Tanimu, Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC) from calling civil and public servants in Niger State on a strike action pending the determination of the motion on notice which is fixed for 15th of July, 2016.

The Expertise Order was granted by Hon. Justice P.O Lifu (JP) of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria Holden in Abuja after considering Suit No:NICN/ABJ/259/2016 also joined in the expert order Incorporated Trustees of both NLC and TUC, I’m Niger State.

The Judge’s decision was premised on the provision of section, 254, paragraph “k” of the 1999 Constitution as amended which gives the Court exclusive powers on issues bordering on dispute arising from payment or non-payment of salaries of any employee.

By this order of granted Niger State Government, the strike action planned for civil and public servants in Niger State has become null and void and indeed of no effects.

Therefore, all civil and public servants in Niger State are strongly advised to report to work and go about their normal businesses in their respective offices without fear of molestation or intimidation by any individual or group of individuals in whatever cover. Any civil and public servants found circumventing this Court Order will have him or herself to blame.

Signed.
