A Federal High sitting in Jos under Justice Docas Agishe has remanded, the former Provost Federal School of Medical Laboratory Jos, Dr. Etukudo Sunday, in Jos Prison over an alleged money laundry and misappropriation of N1.3 billion.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Wednesday arraigned Doctor Sunday and Henry Oyobo, a desk officer in the budget department of the school, on a 6 count charges of conspiracy, money laundering, and misappropriation of public funds amongst others on 29/2/2011.
According to him the same of the charges were read by the court registrar when they alleged that on 29/2 /2011, the sum of N1.38 million, was transferred from the school budget account into Zenith bank private account by Mr. Henry Oyobo, and N943 million into another private account at United African Bank, in connivance with the provost, which is punishable under section 1 sub-sec 1(a) of the 2006 criminal act law.
Counsel to the 1st accused told that they have filed a process seeking for bail, stressing that the accused have been enjoying administrative bail by the EFCC, adding that it looks ironical that the same EFCC are denying the accused bail in the court.
However, prosecution counsel Y. Y. Charles seeks the court to remand the accused persons based on the level of allegations against them.
Justice Mrs. Dorcas Agishe, of the high court 1, remanded the accused in the Jos and adjourned the matter for ruling on the bail application and continuation of hearing till 20th November 2018.
