Court Awards A Cost Of 20,000 Against Jos Electricity Distribution Company For Breaking Into Shop

A plateau High Court sitting on Monday has ordered the defendant, Jos Electricity Distribution Company of Nigeria to pay the sum of 20,000 to the plaintiff, Chief Chijioke Achi as cost for failure to comply with the rules of court in regards to service.

Chief Chijioke, the plaintiff had complained to court that the defendant (Jos Electricity Distribution PLC) invaded his privacy by entering his shop without due process and destroying his goods also disconnecting his light.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Barr. A.B cobby told the court that the matter was slated for hearing and he is ready to proceed.

However, the counsel to the defendant, Prof. A.A shaakaa told the court that he has filed an application challenging the jurisdiction of the court for which the court found out was yet to be served on the plaintiff.

Counsel to the plaintiff applied to the court for cost having been ready to proceed for which the cost awarded the sum of 20,000 against the defendant.

Justice Musa Ashom adjourned to 14th September, 2020 for hearing the defendant’s application.
